Richard Strauss once famously said: ‘Never look at the trombones; it only encourages them!’ While this of course is a well known joke among musicians, it really only acknowledges the sheer power and punch of the instrument.
A permanent member of the symphony orchestra, the big band and the jazz combo, as well as many other pop settings, it one of the most prominent instruments out there. And while Frank Sinatra did not take trombone lessons, he nevertheless attested to it’s capacity for great subtlety when he said that ‘my greatest teacher was not a vocal coach, not the work of other singers, but the way Tommy Dorsey breathed and phrased on the trombone.’
At Lycaeum we offer trombone lessons for both children and adults of all levels and ages. Our teachers design the learning path appropriately according to each of our student’s needs, so that they will become the trombonists they can trully be.
